~ About Us ~
After leaving Italy in the late 1800’s, many Italians settled in the South American country of Argentina. The Italian porteños, or port dwellers were well-known fishermen who are famous for conceiving the dance of the Tango as well as a code language developed by the performers and audiences of the dance.
Argentineans and Italians alike, dance the Tango as expressions of love, anger, jealousy and even a slap of rejection or of enticement. These two passionate cultures melted together to create beauty and art in the dance, community and in life. Even now, Italian influence permeates Argentina’s art, architecture, literature and lifestyle.
After a long anticipated visit to the Argentina, and to the family that moved long ago from Casentino, a small town in the Abruzzo region of Italy, it is evident that the Italian and Argentinean cultures are still very much united. They possess significant connections in food, language, traditions and entertainment. I wish to share with you the experience, culinary excellence and culture.
At Tango Restaurant you will experience a fusion of Italian and Argentine cuisine including the finest wines, house-made pasta’s, sauce’s, fresh meats and seafood.
